Better energy home scheme, Warmer Homes Scheme, SEAI grants are among a number of ways to improve your home. There are currently a number of grant programmes available to homeowners:

The Better Energy Homes scheme provides grants to homeowners who invest in energy efficiency improvements in one or more of the following areas: Roof Insulation, Wall Insulation, Installation of a High Efficiency (> 90%) Gas or Oil fired Boiler, Heating Control Upgrades and Solar panels.

The Warmer Homes Scheme (WHS) aims to improve the energy efficiency and comfort conditions of homes occupied by vulnerable households in receipt of the National Fuel Allowance Scheme through the installation of draught proofing, attic insulation, lagging jackets, low energy light bulbs and cavity wall insulation where appropriate.

The HRI Scheme Incentive provides for tax relief for any works with regards to repair, renovation or improvement works carried out on a main home or rental property by CIF or CIRI qualifying Contractors.

The Home Renovation Incentive (HRI) is a relief from Income Tax (IT) for homeowners, landlords and local authority tenants. You can claim the HRI Tax Credit for repairs, renovations and improvements to your home or rental property.
To be eligible for HRI:
You must pay tax under Pay as You Earn (PAYE) or self-assessment
Your Local Property Tax (LPT) payments must be up to date (this does not apply if you are a local authority tenant)
The work to your property must be carried out by HRI qualifying contractors

The HRI is an online only scheme for homeowners and landlords. If you pay tax through PAYE, use my Account to claim the HRI Tax Credit. If you pay tax through self-assessment, use Revenue Online Service (ROS) to claim the HRI Tax Credit.

There is a minimum spend of €4,405 (before VAT) per property. And a maximum spend of €30,000 (before VAT) per property.
This means that when you spend a minimum of €4405 there is a vat charge of 13.5% which is €594.67 that you are entitled to claim back. And a maximum spend of €30000 plus €4050 vat at 13.5% that you are entitled to claim back. The credit is repaid following the year in which the work is carried out and paid for.

The Incentive will be administered through Revenue HRI online. All works, payments and claims will entered to HRI online either by the client or the contractor.
