Ecocel : Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Cellulose Insulation?
Cellulose is a natural insulation, made from recycled new papers and designed to minimize energy loss more effectively than mineral fibres.
2. What effect will it have on the efficiency of my home?
Dependent on the density of application ecocel cellulose can reduce heat loss in your home by 30% to 40% annually, resulting in significant cost savings for the homeowner.
3. How much does it cost?
Ecocel cellulose is relatively cheap compared to other similar products.
4. In what way is it environmentally friendly?
Ecocels components are non toxic, non irritant and environmentally benign. It also requires relatively little energy in production and does not pollute water, air or soil. It can easily be removed and reused, and can ultimately be returned to the earth (i.e. composted).
5. How does it compare to Fibre Glass and Beads?
It is user friendly and is totally benign and complimentary to environmental requirements, safe to install and have in your home.
6. How is it installed?
It is recommended that Ecocel is installed by trained personnel (IAB Certified) into walls and ceilings using a pressurized installation system which ensures complete filling of cavities to the correct density.
7. Is it suitable for all walls?
Ecocel is perfect for Timber Frame walls and provides great heat retention and also provide significant acoustic benefits (less noise, perfect for internal walls, apartments etc).
Not suitable for Masonry Cavities as it would draw moisture.
8. How does it react to flame/fire?
Ecocel is fire resistant and is tested to the highest standards.
9. How does it react to contact with electric cables?
It has no deleterious effect on PVC covered electrical wiring and does not contain any constituents that cause corrosion of metallic surfaces.
10. Is the product dangerous in any way i.e. does it have particles like Fibre Glass?
No – it is totally safe in every way – see point 4
